The Higher State
We all like Love. And Cream, and the Byrds, and all those bands. So does The Higher State. Formed in 2005, these folks make psychadelic folk rock for today's generation, with just a touch of punk. They really would not feel out of place if they wound up in the 60s, kinda in the same way that Nic Armstrong and the Thieves wouldn't feel out of place back then either. Not that they sound like Nic Armstrong, it's just that they don't sound retro, they sound...old. There's a difference there. But, anyways, these guys are much more diggable than Nic Armstrong. I mean, I like Nic Armstrong; I have his CD. But I like psychadelic rock moreso than roots rock, thus I find myself diggin this a ton more. Chickity check out the un-mastered versions (I think they sound just fine this way, however):
