Echo Maestroplex

You guys know I've been rockin' out to some Catbird Records releases lately, and Maestro Echoplex was one I was really looking forward to before I got these albums, and my expectations were met. While I may have admitted that I enjoy Hemstad more the other day, Maestro is pretty impressive stuff, too. A rather mysterious fellow, this Maestro is, and I can't find a whole lot about him. He is apparently from NYC, and his debut, Last Night I Saw God on the Dancefloor, was released back in 2001, when, according to the Catbird site, "it was BBC New Music's 2001 Runner Up for Album of the Year, and was highly praised by the Village Voice, Time Out NY, the Washington Post, and many others." Somehow, along the way, the album became "almost always next-to-impossible to find," and the awesome folks at Catbird (no, seriously, I mean, they sell their releases at amazing prices - even if you add the extra dollar to go straight to the artist, they're easily affordable) brought it back to life.
What does he sound like, you ask? He's rather singer/songwriter-y, but he has some country twang now and again (not much), and knows how to orchestrate some backing strings.

Hear more, and buy it, here. And really, just pay the seven dollars. It's not like there's much difference between six and seven dollars, and you would have paid like at least eleven dollars anywhere else anyways.
